As a artist and a musician, we live crazy lifestyles of constant shifting and uncertainty. We're gone from our families and loved ones the majority of the time. We give and give with no promise of "making it big," or getting our music heard. On the very bad days Im certain we've all said "What am i doing?" Does the music I make really matter? Is it really worth the 10 year struggle in this cut throat music industry? We do this all for the LOVE of MUSIC.
Watch the videos below. Things like this remind me WHY I picked up a guitar. WHY i fell in love with music. WHY I continue to pound it out on music row. These children are an inspiration. They even shed new light on these songs that I've heard a thousand times on the radio.
Music can transport you anywhere, I believe it can bring you through anything, and these children of Public School 22 know that. They immediately took me back to that place in my heart where I fell in love with music. When it was solely about the music…before any talk of a single on the radio, a cut on a record, or a record deal. They aren't singing to become famous (God, i hate that word these days), or to try to make a buck, they are singing with their hearts.
.
Thank you Mr. Breinberg and children of PS22 for reminding me that music is worth every step of this uncertain and crazy journey.
Thanks Ean for introducing me to this amazing group! I have now added another adventure to my bucket list….."go make music with the children of PS22!"
